End of Canada’s Fast-Track Programs for International Students!
By Gaurav Kandari | Novermber 11, 2024
Breaking News from Ottawa! Canada has announced the abrupt closing of its Student Direct Stream (SDS) program, raising concerns among Indian aspirants!
IRCC Canada launched SDS to ensure faster processing of study permits for students from India, the Philippines, and China in under a week. Now, those doors have closed.
What Does This Mean?
However, from the outside, it seems that this latest move is just another push to curb immigration–setting a cap of 437,000 new study permits for 2025 at all levels of education.
Anyone who submitted their application after November 8 must go through the regular permit process. However, you can still use Guaranteed Investment Certificates as proof of financial support.
Who Is Affected?
Canada promises to welcome all under new rules, but the 8-week delay can be frustrating. Worried? Europe stands just as prominent, if not more, as a premier study-abroad destination.
