IELTS 2023 – 24 Exam Date: Computer-Delivered IELTS Exam Dates (Academic)

Most days of the month, you may access the IELTS computer test. Owing to the large number of IELTS registrations, the majority of IELTS testing locations provide candidates with a variety of test times throughout the day to select from, based on their convenience. IELTS examinations would typically be held at most centres during one or both of the following timeslots:

• Slot 1: 09:00 am to 12:00 noon

BOOKING OF IELTS EXAM

The IELTS test is conducted 48 times a year in India. You can book an IELTS slot on any of the 48 dates to take the test.

Book IELTS Slot: Step-by-Step Process

To book an IELTS slot for the computer-based test, the dates are available 3 times a day and 7 days a week, whereas the Paper Test is administered 4 times a month or 48 times a year.

Oline Method of Booking an IELTS Exam

Step 1: Visit the official IELTS website or the website of the IELTS-affiliated body: IDP India.

Step 2: Select the ‘Register for test’ option and create a profile using your details.

Step 3: After creating a profile, you will be asked to select the exam format (computer-based or paper-based) and the type of exam (IELTS Academic or IELTS General Training).

Step 4: Choose your preferred test centre and exam date.

Step 5: Pay the fees using a card, net banking, or a mobile wallet.

Step 6: You will receive an email confirmation of the payment. Check the details of the test slot that you have booked.

Offline Method of Booking an IELTS Exam

Step 1: Visit the official IELTS website and check your nearest IELTS centre.

Step 2: Download the application form and complete all the relevant details.

Step 3: You will be asked to fill in your preference for the exam format and type.

Step 4: Submit all the required documents and the format to the IELTS centre near you.

Step 5: Pay the fees via a card, eWallet, or Demand Draft.

Step 6: The IELTS test centre will later send a confirmation of the test date and time.

Note: In case that payment for the IELTS slot is done with cash or demand draught, the British Council office must get a copy of the fee receipt and the application acknowledgement. 

Rescheduling the test-

• Within more than 34 days of the test date, you may arrange a new IELTS appointment without giving a reason.
• You must give a good cause and accompanying documentation (medical transcripts, police report, passport troubles, death in the family, etc.) if you need to reschedule within 15 days after the exam.
• You must submit a request at least five weeks in advance of the date you have already reserved if you would like to reschedule or alter your IELTS exam. 
• Make sure you select a fresh test date no later than three months from your original test date. Your selected test date will be regarded as a cancellation rather than a transfer if it is later than this three-month timeframe.

Keep in mind that you can only postpone the exam date once and that doing so would cost INR 3,300.

IELTS Exams Dates 2024: Cancellations and Refund

In this section of the article, we shall discuss all protocols related to cancellation and refund of the IELTS exam. 

What is the IELTS Cancellation Fee?

Candidates that face unforeseen, extraordinary circumstances, such as serious medical issues, a death in the family, or military service obligations, can request an IELTS exam cancellation or transfer. To be eligible, candidates must contact the test center before the exam date or up to 5 calendar days after a missed exam to raise the cancellation request. Proof of the circumstances is required, and the test center will evaluate each case before deciding. The test center has the final authority on whether to grant an exam cancellation or transfer. This policy aims to accommodate legitimate emergencies while maintaining the integrity of the IELTS exam administration.

Canceling the test:

1. If you cancel your exam at least five weeks before the test date, you will be refunded without being charged an administrative fee.
2. If you cancel the test five weeks or fewer before the test date without a legitimate medical reason, you might not be eligible for a refund.
3. To proceed, complete the IELTS website’s cancellation request form. Keep in mind that there will be an additional cancellation charge and that reimbursements will be handled in 8–10 days.

Candidates can request to transfer their IELTS exam date to a later one, provided the request is made at least 5 weeks before the original test date. The test center will determine availability and assign a new date at their discretion. Please note that transferring the IELTS date incurs an additional charge of INR 3,150.

Test centers may also need to cancel exams due to circumstances beyond their control. In such cases, they will notify candidates as early as possible and offer the choice of either a full refund or a free transfer to a more convenient future test date. Cancellations by the test center do not incur any fees for candidates.

What is IELTS Reschedule Fee?

A test day transfer request may be made at least five weeks prior to the test day you have previously scheduled after your cancellation or postponement charge has been deducted. Additionally, ensure that the revised test date is within a three-month window of the initial test date. For the purpose of changing the exam date, candidates must pay an administrative fee of INR 3,300, inclusive of all taxes.
