Each year, 160,000 domestic and 90,000 international students, 60,000 from outside the EU, are enrolled with 300,000 students who are already enrolled in the universities of Russell. Universities of Russell or Russell Group are a group of 24 universities in UK which aim to promote higher education and excellent teaching facilities to both domestic and international students. Founded in 1984, the universities of Russell Group are awarded 2/3 of all study awards which allowed them to create a major commitment to social, economic and financial background in the U.K.

Entry Requirements

  • Those who are planning to study in one of the universities of Russell Group may have to check the university’s websites or UCAS websites as the requirements may vary from course to course and university to university.
  • Students are required to have a good command over English level and must obtain good score in his/her IELTS test.
  • Admission offered by the Russell group is generally granted on the basis of scores of A-Levels. Students are required to obtain good grades in A-Levels.
  • The entry requirement for post graduate courses includes- undergraduate degree, three years of work experience, GMAT/GRE score, TOEFL score of at least 110 or IELTS score of at least 7.5.
  • Visa requirement- Normally, students who get selected for Russell group receives his/her visa easily.

1. University of Birmingham

University of Birmingham is ranked 13th in the UK’s top 50 universities. University of Birmingham also falls under the category of Red Brick University, a term used to describe a 19th century group of universities founded in England’s industrial cities.

2. University of Bristol

University of Bristol which was established in the year 1876, is ranked 16th in the UK’s top 50 universities. It enrols 23,300 students.
