IELTS

The criteria for many international students is their English proficiency in the areas of listening, reading, writing, and speaking. Therefore, a band score of 6.5 or above becomes the acceptable mark for undergraduate studies and beyond.

TOEFL

A competitor to IELTS, TOEFL measures the same language skills but with a slightly different format, often preferred by institutions in the United States. On average, a grade of 90 or higher is considered a high one.

GMAT

Evaluates a set of skills that is highly mandatory for future business leaders, particularly their analytical, writing, numeracy, verbal, and reading abilities. As such, a score of 700 and above is usually regarded as good and it may enhance the odds of getting admitted.

SAT

Widely accepted, especially in the US, as one of the criteria in determining the readiness of college students, in terms of mathematics, reading, and writing. To this end, having a score over 1200 is considered good for college admissions.

PTE

A computer-based test, usually taken by non-native speakers of English for the assessment of their English language skills. A score of over 65 is a good result for a variety of undergraduate and graduate admission purposes.

GRE

One of the important considerations in graduate school admissions is verbal and quantitative reasoning, along with analytical writing and critical thinking skills. Therefore, a score of 310 or more and a score of 4.0 on the Analytical Writing part is the norm.
