The UGC has approved a game-changing policy allowing Indian universities to offer biannual admissions, starting from the next academic year, boosting enrollment and aligning with global practices.

Admissions will now open in January/February and July/August, providing more opportunities for students who missed the initial cycle, and reducing wait times.

Students benefit from minimized wait times, increased motivation, and potentially better employment opportunities with industries conducting campus recruitment twice annually.

Universities align with global practices, improving international collaborations and student exchanges while contributing to India's goal of becoming a 'Global Study Destination'.

The UGC's decision stems from the success of biannual admissions for ODL and Online modes, which led to nearly half a million additional enrollments.

Industries gain access to a larger talent pool through biannual campus recruitment, meeting their talent requirements more effectively.

The biannual admission policy aims to increase the Gross Enrolment Ratio and contribute to India's vision of becoming a global study hub, as envisioned in the NEP 2020.
