Guaranteed work experience is a scam, you may spend hours emailing whoever you can being told to try the next place with no support from this university. Additionally Swinburne is constantly adding sneaky fees for students such as charging you 40 dollars to print your graduation certificate or 250 dollars to attend your graduation. I will not return and I am deeply disappointed with the use of generative ai imaging when choosing a new mascot. The uni sells false promise for job opportunities and perpetuates the issues graduates face entering the job force with what is obviously a brazen disregard for community values exemplified by this new mascot.

Overall very difficult application and registration process. As a mature age student yes I may not be as tech savy as others but its so difficult for someone who has never used their internal applications and systems. I had been wanted to do a course for over a year, submitted an application very early. Was approved and filled in all my application successfully and was accepted. I received assistance on the phone to assign each course individually which was required only to find that as I did not fully approve them, im not registered 3 weeks before it starts and its now full. Such a terrible experience. If something is missing and something needs to be done they could have called or at least sent an email but nothing.

Swinburne University is a great institution for many reasons. In terms of location, it’s conveniently situated next to Glenferrie Station and shopping strip, perfect for quick coffee breaks. There are also plenty of shops on campus and lots of spots to grab something to eat between classes. The university hosts a variety of events during the semester, with many clubs setting up stalls all over campus. They offer comedy nights, karaoke at The Junction, guest speakers, and insightful seminars. Although they do a good job of concealing the numerous international arms trade deals they’re involved in, you can find links to some of this research on campus. It’s world class research, and if it weren’t contributing to so much destruction, I’d be quite impressed. The facilities are excellent, with plenty of well maintained toilets and buildings. Friendly staff are always available to help you navigate the grounds, and the library is a one stop shop for any information you might need. If you’re a student or looking for a place to study, the inner city campus is highly accessible, with a nice blend of greenery throughout the buildings that brings the campus to life.

I recently tried to apply for the Certificate IV in Book keeping. After not even a week after making the application I will be seeking a different education provider. Ranji Sull was my course advisor, I tried to explain to them I would be unavailable this week for a phone call, as I had important phone appointments regarding ADHD/Autism they were rude and interrupted me. They they continued to call and email me every morning for the next week. I replied with an email explaining again why I was unavailable for a call this week. He explained it was important I pay my course fees for a free Tafe course I knew next to nothing about? And then when I complained about the harassment he closed my application. I should have read the reviews here first. They are a money mill first and 'educators' second, only caring about how much money they can get out of you without providing any support. Demeaning emails from Ranji and I will not be pursuing my education at Swinburne due to his attitude. I am hoping Holmesglen or RMIT offer better staff and learning experiences for Neurodivergent Individuals.

The campus is scenic and beautiful, brimming with life and scenes right out of a movie. The staff (especially Alex), were more than willing to help. The service was efficient and the follow up and overall customer service was unparalleled for a "Big 4" University - scratch that, the service is unbeatable for ANY University. Today was my second visit to the University and I was looking a bit lost. However, a lovely person my the name of Bernadette found me and really went above and beyond to make sure I was looked after. Honestly, this truly feels like home - academically speaking. A big thank you to the team who took my photo and printed my student card and also explained how "loaner laptops" work for students who need a laptop in the interim (from my first initial visit). AND a big thank you to Alex who helped with my subject selection and credit transfer from RMIT University. Honestly, I couldn't be happier with transferring to Swinburne University and as someone on a pathway towards MBA and PhD I truly feel like I'm finally "home" academically. Overall, I could not fault Swinburne - A solid 10 out of 10 (not saying it's perfect but it's very very close and always striving to be better). Unlike a lot of education entities you don't feel like just a number or another enrolment or "set of fees", you feel valued and welcomed like a part of something greater and bigger than yourself. Please keep up this incredible work Swinburne University and NEVER EVER lose the essence of who you are as a human-first University because you are truly one of a kind.
